Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership and Strategy:

• Collaborate with the Board, CEO and key staff to advance strategic plan and goals and ensure program areas are aligned with strategic plan.
• Implement strategic plan, integrating all aspects of the organization’s work.Working with the CEO, create, maintain, and/or oversee systems and processes to ensure effective management of the daily operations of program staff and an organizational structure that supports the organization’s goals.

• Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities, outputs and results in accordance with the Strategic Plan of the Company
• Develop new initiatives, innovative approaches to support the strategic direction of the Company
• Assist in the development a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement.
• Participate in monitoring programme implementation progress, ensure adherence to the programme annual work plan, budgets, prepare revisions (if required) and evaluate annual plan performance
• Organize and participate in programme quarterly review sessions and prepare a report to that effect.

Planning:

Grants Management:
• Manage grant life cycle, from request to close. This entails reviewing applications, tracking payments, reviewing or producing relevant reports, and monitoring impact
• Provide proposals ideas and analysis on impact measurement of the Company interventions e.g. the costs saved by dealing with GBV cases, the benefits generated by securing property rights for women in inheritance cases etc.
• Manage the review of funding requests for completeness, eligibility, and compliance with Compan regulations.
• Conduct the due diligence that is required in the decision-making process, ensuring consistent application of statutory and internal requirements.

Programs Management
• Communicate with implementing partners, clients and other stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program.
• Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
• Provide quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports on the program for the CEO, Board and for funders
• Communicate with funders as outlined in funding agreements.
• Monitor and approve all budgeted program expenditures and ensure that the program operate within the approved budget.

Requirements
Knowledge and Experience

• 10+ years of professional experience in a fast-paced and growing nonprofit environment, as well as experience working in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively to lead the integration of a complex organization and utilizing best practices in management to ensure shared success.
• Significant experience developing and leading teams and working as an effective team member.
• Proven success leading a collaborative strategic planning process and ensuring its effective implementation.
• Strong staff management experience is required, with the ability and interest to work closely with staff members to set and achieve individual and team goals.
• Outstanding strategic thinking skills, with a focus on results and impact.

Responsibilities
• The Global Product Manager will be responsible for the following activities with all companies operating entities (e.g., both in Tanzania and Uganda):

Business Planning & Operations
• Attending customer and partner meetings with the Managing Director
• Assisting in managing the sales pipeline and ERP/CRM system
• Developing demand forecasts and aligning these with production plans
• On-boarding customers and registering Company products with customers
• Together with the VP of Operations, supporting the order-to-cash process
• First point (customer service) of contact for key global accounts

Product Strategy & Development
• Understanding the global market landscape and providing strategic thinking for product positioning
• Using customer insights, needs and feedback to collaborate with Production, QA and Engineering Teams in developing new products
• Bringing new products to market, including product launches
• Developing product pricing – balancing margins, quality, and competitive positioning

Product Risk & Regulatory Compliance Management
• Monitoring and regularly feeding back to Business Development, Production & QA Teams changes in foreign (i.e., US and EU) regulations and trends impacting on product risks/opportunities and regulatory compliance
• Handling customers’ and regulatory authorities’ compliance requests
• Identifying, managing and mitigating risks related to business development opportunities, e.g., when developing strategic partnerships

Product Sustainability Compliance Management
• Responsible to customer, auditor, and investor requests for sustainability measures and compliance
• Together with the VP of Strategy/Sustainability, VP of Operations, and Team Leads, developing, reviewing and/or reporting on sustainability metrics (i.e., maintaining a live sustainability dashboard)
• Driving ongoing improvements against agreed sustainability metrics
• Together with the VP of Operations, embedding systematic data capture of sustainability metrics within operational processes

Marketing & Communications Support
• Support content creation and development for (i) keeping the product brand fresh, relevant and up-to-date, (ii) marketing materials like leaflets, videos, product showcase samples, etc., and (iii) company and product social media presence, including Company's own website
• Support the development of partnerships for new business opportunities

Requirements
Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelors and ideally masters degree in a related technical field, e.g., food science, flavor science, chemical engineering, process engineering, finance, business/commerce, or law
• Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in a similar role
• Conversant in process improvement methodologies like kaizen and six sigma; enterprise risk management (ERM); and business planning
• Knowledge of food safety
• Excellent top-down communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills
• Excellent critical, analytical, and creative thinking, paired with an ability to make data-driven decisions

Overseeing all aspects of plantation management and development, particularly in regards to the vanilla crop and other inter cropped species (e.g., banana, tutor trees,etc). This will include;
• Managing all plantation performance (data based), ensuring the security of the plantation and the whole premise that the plantation is built on
• Assessing the viability of external/Joint Venture commercial plantations
• Coordinating the development of the plantation and related infrastructure,on time and on budget
• Running a nursery, and ensuring the successful propagation of healthy and productive vines within the plantation and to out growers

Requirements
Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Agronomy, Horticulture, or Agricultural Sciences, with a Master’s degree preferable;
• At least 6 years of experience in a managerial position; ideally with at least one leadership level reporting to them, and having interacted with various stakeholders i.e., government officials, farmers, etc.
• At least 3 years of experience in plantation-based value chain management;
• Experienced in smallholder farmer & plantation operations management, IT systems, budgeting, report narrative writing and how to use software applications/analytics for data reporting;
• Demonstrated strong leadership, able to inspire and influence others, set their teams’ strategy and lead their work independently;
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, able to relate to multiple foreign cultures, and manage people effectively in difficult circumstances

Responsibilities
Evaluation of existing VCoE model and scale up recommendations

• Conduct site visits to 8 existing VCOEs (4 regions with a focus on Kagera, Kilimanjaro,and Morogoro) and interview company management and existing VCoEagents/management to understand current model (structure, economics, what’s working well/not, emerging initiatives such as improved agroforestry that could impact the model,etc).
• Based on interviews and assessment, review economic feasibility; advise on optimal and practical business model(s) for VCoEs that reflect the reality on the ground, including opportunities to improve the model.
• Review parameters for identifying and testing various VCoE models/pilots; and propose modifications required to maximize viability and/or scalability of VCoE model. Evaluate and consider performance of existing VCoE pilots, and observations made on
• benefits/drawbacks of different ownership models, geographic locations, staff structure etc.).
• Based on above, refine (and agree with Company management) criteria for selecting sites and entrepreneurs, as well as capacity gaps and support needs, for VCoEs going forward.
• Assess value proposition for farmer investment in vanilla cultivation; explore and determine possible risk-mitigation strategies (e.g. improved agroforestry practices, vine subsidy mechanisms).
• Summarize key success factors and risk mitigation measures for future VCoE model based on the above.

Operational support to Company to manage VCoE model
• Select optimal sites and entrepreneurs to pilot new VCoEs
• Review and compare performance of existing and new VCoEs; iterate and adapt quickly/nimbly based on progress on the ground; make recommendations to Company on which VCoEs to prioritize and scale up based on performance and which to drop using a fail fast approach.
• Identify additional financing/funding needs to scale up VCoE model; explore (and support) possible opportunities for entrepreneurs or Company to access funding to address these gaps.
• Advise on Company management structure/resources needed to manage VCoE model; agree on adjusted organogram (as appropriate).
• Support hiring and/or training of existing/new staff to support above proposed management structure.

Capacity building of VCoE
• Support selected VCoEs on business plan development, to demonstrate/ measure economic feasibility
• Facilitate training (directly or via 3rd parties as appropriate) to develop franchisee operational and financial management skills
• Facilitate training (directly or via 3rd parties as appropriate) to develop micro-franchisee business skills

Explore improved agroforestry and carbon finance opportunities
• Support Company team to identify an approach to deliver broader agroforestry support as part of VCoE model, including assessing skills, resources, and capital investment required to implement successfully
• Support Company teams in assessing potential for an agroforestry and carbon credit-based revenue model for VCoEs through e.g., developing and testing qualitative and quantitative assumptions

Overall programme management, performance monitoring & learning
• Determine and lay out key success factors and performance indicators
• Support company to create dashboard, track progress and make decisions based on KPI framework

Requirements
Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
• Advanced degree in business management or other relevant field preferred
• At least 8 years of business or project management in a similar context
• Should possess excellent agribusiness management skills, and experience working at senior management level within an agribusiness or experience running an agribusiness in the past
• Experience working to support inclusive sourcing and/or distribution schemes required,preference for individuals who have run similar micro-franchise or independent aggregation agent models in developing countries
• Experience in or passion for implementing field work in a developing country required, experience in Tanzania strongly preferred
• Experience working with corporations around shared value initiatives required
• Proven analytical and quantitative skills
