Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Workshop / Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, mobilization, and management of our heavy machinery and fleet. Based in Tanga, the ideal candidate will ensure maximum equipment availability and optimal workshop efficiency, with a proven track record of managing assets specifically within large-scale airport infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Asset & Fleet Management

Oversee the allocation, utilization, tracking, and mobilization of all construction equipment and vehicles.

Workshop Operations

Manage daily workshop activities, prioritizing repair schedules, preventive maintenance programs, and emergency breakdowns to minimize downtime.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure all machinery and workshop operations strictly adhere to aviation authority safety standards, local regulations, and company HSE policies.

Inventory & Procurement

Manage spare parts inventory.

Optimize supply chains.

Negotiate with vendors/suppliers for cost-effective procurement.

Team Leadership

Lead, train, and mentor a team of mechanics, technicians, and workshop staff to maintain high performance and safety standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related field).
  • A minimum of 10 years of cumulative experience in plant, fleet, and workshop management within the construction industry.
  • Must have served as a Workshop/Equipment Manager on at least one airport construction project within the last 10 years (understanding airport airside/landside safety and operational constraints is highly valued).
  • Deep knowledge of heavy construction equipment (e.g., earthmoving machinery, asphalt/concrete plants, specialized paving equipment).
