Key Responsibilities
- Utility Systems Management
- Manage and maintain core utility systems (compressed air, electrical distribution, cooling systems, generator) to ensure uninterrupted supply and quality.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans; oversee corrective maintenance activities.
- Energy and Cost Control
- Monitor energy consumption, identify optimization opportunities, and lead energy reduction projects.
- Manage budget for utilities, track OPEX, and drive cost-saving initiatives.
- Maintenance & Reliability
- Lead a team of technicians and supervisors; schedule maintenance activities to minimize production downtime.
- Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and best practices for asset care.
- Safety, Compliance, and Environment
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental permits, and company policies.
- Champion safe work practices; conduct risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Technical Leadership
- Evaluate and specify equipment upgrades, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Liaise with engineering, production, and suppliers on technical issues and projects.
- Continuous Improvement
- Lead lean and continuous improvement initiatives in utility operations.
- Implement data-driven monitoring (KPIs, dashboards) to drive performance.
- Shutdowns and Projects
- Plan and execute major maintenance shutdowns; coordinate with production planning.
- Manage capital projects related to utilities (capex requests, contractor management).
- Vendor and Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with equipment vendors, service providers, and contractors.
- Prepare specifications, request for quotations, and evaluate bids.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Utility reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR) for key systems
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) impact from utility-related downtime
- Energy consumption per unit of production (e.g., kWh/ton)
- Maintenance backlog and adherence to preventive maintenance schedules
- Safety incident rate and near-miss reporting
- Compliance audit scores and environmental emission measurements
- Capital project on-time and on-budget delivery
Qualification and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering,
- Experience: 7–12 years in manufacturing operations, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory/managerial role overseeing utility systems or maintenance.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of utility systems (steam, compressed air, water treatment, cooling, electrical).
- Familiarity with process control, instrumentation, and PLC-based systems.
- Knowledge of energy management, waste and water treatment, and environmental regulations.
- Management Skills:
- People leadership, coaching, performance management.
- Project management, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Vendor management and contract negotiation.
