ABOUT GEITA GOLD MINING LTD

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- Support geologists with proper cutting, marking and orientation of drill cores and conduct basic to intermediate geological logging.
- Provide technical input into interpretation and planning within the designed work scope.
- Countercheck and validate geotechnical data from drill cores before import to the geological database.
- Provide leadership support at the Core Shed to ensure teams achieve daily targets as planned.
- Report to the Senior Supervisor – Core Shed.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Organise and conduct pre-start meetings and toolbox talks at the workplace.
- Lead the team to ensure implementation of and compliance with HSE standards and procedures.
- Drive implementation of departmental KPIs by encouraging hazard identification and conducting CCVs as required.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee intermediate to advanced shift activities at the main core yard, ensuring adherence to SOPs, data QA/QC and safety in challenging conditions.
- Perform basic to intermediate lithological, structural and geotechnical logging of drill cores and prepare preliminary geological sketches to support timely interpretation and modelling.
- Double-check and validate the quality of core cutting, core marking and orientation marks on drill cores and notify the geologist/Senior Core Shed Supervisor on required actions.
- Validate and ensure data capture into the database is up to date and to the required quality.
- Ensure samples are collected, labelled and properly handed over to the Resource Evaluation team for laboratory submission.
- Provide coaching and on-the-job training to Technician 1 and 2 to build and maintain a capable technical team.
- Assist the Core Shed Supervisor in leading Core Shed shift teams.
- Identify data quality gaps or process inefficiencies; design and implement practical improvements; assist in developing or updating SOPs in support of the Senior Supervisor – Core Yard.
- Be ready to undertake geological field activities when required, including drilling, geological mapping, geophysical and geochemical surveys.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Diploma in Geology or Geoscience related fields.
- Secondary School Certificate with extensive relevant experience.
Experience
- Extensive experience handling drilling samples, basic to intermediate geological and geotechnical logging of drill cores, cutting and marking for Secondary School Certificate holders.
- Over 5 years of working experience for Diploma holders.
- More than 10 years of working experience in exploration drilling environments, geotechnical logging and sampling for Secondary School Certificate holders.
Knowledge & Skills
- Computer literacy in MS Excel and MS Word.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Good experience in exploration drilling operations, geotechnical logging, sampling and basic geological interpretation.
- Strong QA/QC and data reconciliation skills.
- Good understanding of and strong commitment to HSE practices and operational standards.
- Driving experience with a valid Tanzanian driving license.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to coordinate and lead smaller teams at the workplace.
- Tanzanian Citizen
