The Security Manager position at dnata Zanzibar is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all security operations and ensuring the safety of aviation facilities, personnel, assets, and visitors. The successful candidate will lead the security department, implement aviation security strategies, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain high security standards in line with international aviation requirements.
Responsibilities
The Security Manager will lead and manage all security functions to ensure safe, secure, and efficient airport operations. The role requires strategic leadership, operational oversight, and compliance with aviation security regulations and industry best practices.
- Oversee and manage the security department to ensure safe and cost-effective handling of flights and security services
- Develop and implement aviation security plans, policies, procedures, and strategies in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Develop functional strategies for security operations and ensure effective implementation across the organization
- Establish and maintain security policies and procedures in compliance with international and national aviation security standards
- Lead, supervise, train, and mentor security personnel to ensure effective security operations
- Manage security staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives
- Ensure continuous training programs to enhance staff capabilities in threat recognition, crisis management, customer service, and security operations
- Oversee security measures including access control, screening procedures, and security patrol activities
- Safeguard aviation facilities, personnel, equipment, and organizational assets against potential threats
- Ensure compliance with aviation security regulations and directives issued by authorities such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and national aviation authorities
- Prepare and present security reports, findings, and recommendations to senior management and regulatory bodies
- Provide strategic planning, leadership, and hands-on execution to maintain high levels of organizational safety and security
Qualifications
Applicants should possess strong aviation security experience, leadership capabilities, and an in-depth understanding of airport security operations and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Security, particularly in Airport Operations
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Ability to work independently as a front-line supervisor
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Pleasant personality and good physical health
- Completion of relevant and recognized professional security courses
- Knowledge of aviation security regulations and industry best practices
- Experience in managing security teams and security operations
- Fluency in Swahili will be an added advantage
