The Security Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect the organization’s people, property, information, and assets. The role ensures a safe working environment by minimizing security risks and responding effectively to incidents and emergencies.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
1. Security Planning & Strategy
- Develop and implement comprehensive security policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability audits.
- Create emergency response plans and business continuity procedures.
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
- Recruit, train, and supervise security personnel.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing at all times.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide coaching or disciplinary action when necessary.
3. Physical Security Management
- Oversee access control systems, CCTV surveillance, alarm systems, and visitor management.
- Conduct routine security patrols and monitor high-risk areas.
- Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of all security equipment.
4. Incident & Crisis Management
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, and emergencies.
- Lead investigations into security breaches, theft, or employee misconduct.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
5. Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with local security laws and regulations.
- Maintain documentation including risk assessments, incident logs, and security audit reports.
- Prepare periodic security reports for management review.
6. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with HR, Facilities, IT, and Operations teams to ensure coordinated security measures.
- Liaise with law enforcement, emergency services, and external security vendors.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminology, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in security operations or managerial security roles.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of security systems, emergency protocols, and risk management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under pressure.
Soft Skills
- High integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
- Effective conflict-resolution skills.
- Team management and decision-making abilities.
