Job Summary:
The Quantity Surveyor manages all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. They ensure that the financial and legal aspects of a project are managed correctly, from initial estimates to final figures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Management: Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities (BOQ).
- Procurement: Advise on procurement strategy and manage the tender process.
- Contract Administration: Administer contracts, manage variations, and handle claims. Provide advice on contractual claims.
- Valuation & Payments: Calculate and track project valuations, prepare interim and final payment applications, and certify subcontractor payments.
- Cost Control: Monitor project costs against the budget, identify potential cost overruns, and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Reporting: Provide financial progress reports to project managers and clients.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a construction environment.
- Profound knowledge of construction processes, materials, and legal guidelines.
- Strong numerical and financial management skills.
- Proficiency in QS software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and MS Excel.
- Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, AIQS) is a significant advantage.
