How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

The Project Officer will support the implementation and coordination of the ViiV Paediatric Breakthrough Partnership (PBP) in Dodoma Region, working closely with government stakeholders, health facilities, communities, and partner organizations to accelerate the elimination of paediatric HIV.

Reporting to the project leadership team, the Project officer will oversee day-to-day program implementation across supported health facilities and communities, ensuring activities are effectively coordinated, aligned with national HIV guidelines, and delivered through a collaborative partnership approach. The role will support quality improvement initiatives, routine data use, performance monitoring, stakeholder engagement, capacity strengthening, documentation of best practices, and learning to improve outcomes for children, adolescents, and pregnant and breastfeeding women affected by HIV.

No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?

Responsibilities or duties

• Support day-to-day implementation of ViiV PBP Phase III activities across supported councils and health facilities, in line with the approved workplan, targets, and technical priorities.
• Support coordination among Partnership partners by facilitating information sharing, joint planning, follow-up of agreed actions, and coordinated implementation across EGPAF, PATA, Aidsfonds/ACC, UNICEF, and government counterparts.
• Support the organization and documentation of bi-weekly Partnership implementation meetings.
• Support health facilities and district teams in implementing priority pediatric, adolescent, and PBFW HIV interventions, including case identification, EID, PVT, ART, viral load monitoring, adherence, retention, and community–facility linkages.
• Monitor implementation progress and program performance, supporting routine data reviews, tracking of key indicators, identification of implementation gaps, and follow-up of agreed corrective actions.
• Support field-level coordination and stakeholder engagement with R/CHMTs, health facilities, community actors, and implementing partners through site visits, supportive supervision, mentorship, and other program activities.
• Support documentation and learning by compiling program updates, lessons learned, success stories, best practices, and implementation evidence to inform Partnership learning, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

To be successful, you will have:

Education:

• Degree in Clinical Medicine, MD or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health and Allied sciences, Advanced degree in public health is an advantage or related clinical fields.

Experience needed

Experience

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in program management or implementation, particularly in pediatric ART, pediatric/adolescent HIV and AIDS, PMTCT or health-related programs, with a strong understanding of pediatric and adolescent HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment in low-resource settings.
• Demonstrated experience in working with national and local government structures, including R/CHMTs, health facilities, and community systems, NGOs, and international partners
• Demonstrated understanding of pediatric and adolescent HIV programming and the challenges affecting service delivery in low-resource settings.
• Experience in quality improvement, data use, monitoring, or performance management is highly desirable.
• Experience working with community health systems and community–facility linkage approaches is an advantage.
• Experience documenting program learning, best practices, success stories, or technical reports is an advantage.

Skills

• Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to analyze program data and translate findings into practical programmatic actions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with DHIS2, CTC2, dashboards, or other health information systems is an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving, reporting, documentation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
• Willingness to travel regularly to supported health facilities and communities within Dodoma Region.
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required.
