Job Purpose:
To diagnose and provide non-surgical treatment for a wide range of diseases and injuries in adult patients. The Physician uses clinical skills and diagnostic tools to manage complex and multi-system disease processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Consultation: Conduct thorough patient consultations, taking detailed medical histories and performing physical examinations.
  • Diagnosis: Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., blood tests, imaging scans, EKGs) to diagnose medical conditions.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and manage long-term treatment plans for acute and chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and infections.
  • Medication Management: Prescribe medications and therapies, monitoring their effectiveness and side effects.
  • Preventative Care: Provide health education and counseling to patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Referrals: Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary for specialized care.
  • Inpatient Care: Manage the treatment of hospitalized patients, including daily rounds and coordination of care.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare staff to provide integrated care.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master of Medicine (MMed) in Internal Medicine or equivalent recognized specialist qualification. (Note: In some contexts, "Physician" may refer to a Medical Doctor (MD) with several years of experience, but for a specialist hospital, a postgraduate qualification is standard).
  • Valid and active medical practicing license.
  • Registration with the relevant national medical and dental practitioners council.
  • Proven experience in internal medicine or as a general physician.
  • Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Empathy and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a high workload and make sound judgments under pressure.
