Job Summary

Our client in the Agribusiness industry is seeking a skilled and reliable Milling Machine Operator to support milling and processing operations in Kigoma. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating and monitoring milling machines, maintaining required production standards, carrying out routine equipment checks, and supporting consistent production output while minimizing waste and machine downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and control milling machines safely to produce quality milled products.
  • Set, adjust, and monitor machine settings to achieve the required production output and quality standards.
  • Monitor the flow of grain and finished products throughout the milling process to prevent blockages and unnecessary waste.
  • Conduct routine pre-operation and operational checks to ensure machines are functioning correctly.
  • Carry out basic maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments to keep machines operating efficiently.
  • Identify abnormal machine performance, unusual sounds, vibrations, or other operating problems and report faults or breakdowns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Monitor product quality during processing and report any deviations from required standards.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of production output, machine performance, downtime, and operational issues as required.
  • Keep milling machines, equipment, and surrounding work areas clean, organized, and free from potential hazards.
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, hygiene, and operating procedures during milling operations.
  • Work closely with loaders and other production team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certificate or relevant vocational or technical training in Milling Operations, Food Processing, Mechanical Engineering, Machine Operations, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience operating milling or similar processing machines.
  • Good understanding of milling machine operation, controls, settings, and production processes.
  • Ability to conduct routine machine checks, basic maintenance, cleaning, and minor adjustments.
  • Ability to identify and promptly report mechanical faults and abnormal machine performance.
  • Basic understanding of grain handling, product quality, and waste control.
  • Good understanding of workplace health, safety, and hygiene procedures.
  • Ability to maintain basic production and machine performance records.
  • Physically fit and capable of working effectively within an active processing environment.
  • Responsible, attentive, disciplined, and able to follow operational instructions.
