Job Summary

CNS Group is seeking an experienced and technically competent MEP & Facilities Manager for a property in Zanzibar. The role is responsible for overseeing the full operation, maintenance, and performance of all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and ELV systems across the facility, ensuring uninterrupted power, water, and building services at all times. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in MEP systems, a proactive approach to facilities management, and the ability to diagnose, coordinate, and resolve complex building service challenges in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine building inspections and maintenance of all MEP and ELV systems, ensuring all installations are functioning optimally and in full compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Ensure the proper and continuous operation of electrical panels, HVAC units, solar power systems, generators, irrigation systems, borehole, fire and life safety systems across the facility at all times.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults promptly, applying appropriate technical solutions to restore full system functionality with minimal operational disruption.
  • Maintain an adequate and well-organised stock of essential spares and tools, keeping an updated inventory list to ensure readiness for routine maintenance and emergency repair activities.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency service requests, providing swift technical intervention to resolve building service failures and minimise impact on facility operations.
  • Submit detailed condition reports on all MEP and building systems, recommending necessary corrective or preventive actions to management based on findings from inspections and assessments.
  • Advise management on the performance and condition of existing MEP systems, analyse consultant reports, and recommend suitable actions to ensure the property remains consistently self-sufficient in power and water supply.
  • Assist in after-hours activities and emergency response as needed, ensuring availability for critical MEP system support and facilities management requirements.
  • Ensure all MEP systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and ELV installations are functioning properly at all times, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate.
  • Perform all additional duties as requested by management in support of overall facilities operations and building services excellence.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP systems management, building services, or facilities management is preferred.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with electrical panels, HVAC systems, solar installations, generators, irrigation systems, borehole operations, and fire and life safety systems is preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical faults across complex MEP and ELV installations is recommended.
  • Experience in preparing condition reports, maintenance schedules, and spares inventory management is recommended.
  • Ability to analyse technical consultant reports and provide sound recommendations on MEP system improvements is recommended.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to building services and facilities management is recommended.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and respond effectively under pressure is recommended.
