Background:
Global Volunteers is a nonsectarian international development organization active in 14 countries, operating in the Iringa Region, Tanzania, since 1987.
Responsibilities:
- Develop pilot project framework with IGC physicians based on Bandebereho Facilitators Manual
- Collaborate with RCP Caregivers and GBV Intern to identify potential participants
- Draft project description, participation criteria, expected outcomes and measurements
- Meet with men’s group candidates to discuss project and solicit ideas for successful meetings
- Develop Goodwill group guidelines, scope, timeline, topics and events for monthly meetings
- Plan, create, define, design
- Work with men’s group to create age-appropriate school lessons on boys’ and men’s self-awareness and role in GBV, and other related topics
- Engage short-term volunteers in awareness and education events for men’s group meetings
- Attend Ward and village meetings to promote Men’s Goodwill Project
- Replicate pilot project in other village(s) when success measurement is reached in demonstration village
Professional Requirements:
- Coursework in social work or psychology
- Men are highly encouraged to apply
- One year contract but renewable when two parties agreed
Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Teamwork, independent thinking, quick learning abilities
- Sensitivity and compassion for local cultural norms in areas of poverty
- High comfort level working with men of all ages
