The Media Relations: Advocacy & Research role is responsible for driving Vodacom Tanzania PLC’s advocacy agenda by managing strategic media relations, producing research-backed policy content, and amplifying the work of External Affairs and Legal & Regulatory units through thought leadership initiatives such as op-eds, paper launches, and forums, as well as support programs that build VTPLC’s strategic areas.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Shape pro-business narratives that positively inform policy and decision-makers through research-backed writing.
  • Translate data and analytical insights into compelling executive summaries and opinion pieces that position the private sector for growth.
  • Oversee strategic research that strengthens industry’s advocacy through credible data and insights.
  • Shape industry narrative through leading research and partnership with local and regional business groups and industry bodies, and UN agencies with a focus on digitization and digital transformation.

Qualification, Core Competencies, Knowledge and Experience

  •    Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications, advisory, and or strategic advocacy fields.
    •    Ability to produce, address, and communicate data-driven, pro-business narratives.
    •    Ability to distil complex data, economic trends, and policy reports into actionable insights and clear narratives.
    •    Knowledgeable on public policy and regulatory environments 
    •    Excellent command of English and Kiswahili languages 
    •    University Degree, preferably with a major in Communication, Public Policy and/or Political Science
    •    Background in professional services, consulting, or publishing
    •    Experience in analytics, research and reasoning, producing high impact thought leadership that supports business and policy objectives
    •    Media dynamics and strategic communications for corporate advocacy
    •    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    •    Computer literacy in Word; Outlook; PowerPoint presentations & design; Excel.
