JOB PURPOSE

As a meat processing officer, you will be responsible for meat processing, packing, sealing and performing functions involving the preparation of meat. Work may include specialized slaughtering tasks, cutting standard or premium cuts of meat for making sausage and other processed meats. The work will be in Kijitonyama. This position requires work outside of normal 8:30am-6pm operating hours. Please do NOT apply if you are not passionate and available to dedicate time to this position.

Required Skills

• Must be able to communicate in Swahili and a bit of English.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• On-the-job training or apprenticeship in meat processing
• Good problem-solving and communication skills to resolve issues with meat processing.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Attention to details.
• Good physical stamina with ability to work under demanding conditions.
• Good manual skills to work with machines and tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Cutting, trimming, and boning meat according to customer and industry specifications
• Operating equipment such as slicers, grinders, and cutting machines to prepare meat products.
• Weighing and packaging meat products for sale or distribution
• Maintaining clean and organized work areas and equipment
• Ensuring that meat products are handled, stored, and prepared according to food safety standards and regulations.
• Providing customer service by answering questions, taking orders, and making recommendations
• Maintaining accurate inventory and ordering supplies as needed
• Training and supervising junior staff as needed.

Contract Type: Three-month probationary contract, followed by a one-year renewable contract upon successful completion of probation.
