The Light Truck Operator will be responsible for safely transporting materials, tools, spare parts, supplies, and other approved loads across the agribusiness estate and to authorized external locations. The role will support workshop, agricultural, and project operations while ensuring the assigned vehicle remains safe and roadworthy.
Responsibilities or duties
- Operate light trucks to transport tools, spare parts, materials, supplies, and other authorized loads.
- Ensure transported materials are properly arranged and secured before movement.
- Support workshop, field, warehouse, and other operational teams with transportation requirements.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections, including tyres, brakes, fluids, lights, and general vehicle condition.
- Maintain trip, mileage, fuel, and basic vehicle operating records.
- Ensure routine servicing is completed according to the vehicle maintenance schedule.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, damage, or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Follow Tanzanian road traffic laws, designated project routes, and workplace safety procedures.
Qualifications or requirements
- Form Four education or equivalent.
- Valid Tanzanian driving licence appropriate for light commercial truck operation.
- Good knowledge of safe loading, load securing, and transportation procedures.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection and routine maintenance.
- Good knowledge of road traffic regulations and local road conditions.
- Good communication, discipline, reliability, and time-management skills.
Experience needed
- Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably involving light trucks or commercial vehicles.
- Experience in agriculture, logistics, construction, or project operations will be an added advantage.
