The successful candidate will provide expert Industrial Relations (IR) support to HR Department and Senior management, fostering positive workplace relationships, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring procedures and policies comply with laws.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise and coach managers and HR on complex IR matters.
  • Ensure managers, employees and shop stewards are made aware of policy changes related to legislative and regulatory changes.
  • Maintain and update all IR policies and procedures, ensuring the enforcement and adherence of these policies and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain positive stakeholder relationships (internally and externally) through ensuring
  • IR committees are in place and effectively managed.
  • Manage and enhance relationships between trade unions and management.
  • Monitor IR trends within the company in order to diagnose, develop and implement suitable solutions/program.
  • Provide professional advice to the HR Team and Line Managers in relation to IR to identify IR training needs for managers, employees and shop stewards and provide suitable solutions.
  • Provide guidance for managing IR unrest (picketing, strikes, sit in, etc.) at sites.
  • Manage IR elements of the HR budget.
  • Support and guide wage negotiations processes.
  • Manage the integration of Recognition & Substantive Agreements and conditions of employment in line with business strategy.
  • Ensure IR master data accuracy.
  • Partner with the Legal Counsel in strengthening the IR portfolio
  • Support the investigations for Internal Audit Call Reports related to HR policy/procedures/process deviations and IR related litigation.
  • Provide support to management and employees in managing performance and assist in the analysis of plans to resolve any identified performance problems.
  • Represent the Company on   labour disputes and other litigations where employees are involved s (e.g. CMA) and manage interaction with third party service providers e.g. attorneys/consultants to provide specialist advice.
  • Promote and adhere to ABF’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

Job Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and Admitted Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania.
  • Experience in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or Equivalent is an added advantage.
  • 5-7 years relevant experience with impressive, demonstrable track record of skills/experience gained within a similar position(s).


Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be engaged on a Permanent Contract.
