Job Summary:
The Head Stores Manager is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the central stores and warehouse. This includes inventory control, team leadership, process optimization, and ensuring the efficient and accurate flow of all materials in and out of the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement warehouse strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize space, labor, and operational efficiency.
- Inventory Control: Oversee complete inventory management, including stock levels, accuracy (via cycle counts and annual audits), and reconciliation. Minimize stock obsolescence and pilferage.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage the entire stores team, including Assistant Stores Managers, supervisors, and all warehouse personnel. Conduct performance reviews and manage training programs.
- System & Process Management: Ensure the Warehouse Management System (WMS) is used effectively for all transactions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Budget & Cost Control: Manage the warehouse budget, control operational costs, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) like order accuracy, on-time dispatch, and inventory turnover.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure the warehouse operates in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration.
- 8+ years of experience in warehouse/stores management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven expertise in inventory management principles and WMS/ERP systems.
- Strong leadership, financial acumen, and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations.
