Job Summary

CNS Group is seeking an experienced and service-oriented Head Bartender for a luxury hotel in Zanzibar. The role is responsible for overseeing daily bar operations, ensuring exceptional beverage service standards, supervising bartending teams, and delivering outstanding guest experiences. The ideal candidate should possess strong mixology knowledge, leadership abilities, and experience managing bar operations within a high-end hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily bar operations and ensure smooth, efficient, and professional beverage service throughout all operating hours.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to hotel standards, recipes, and guest preferences.
  • Supervise bartenders and bar attendants, ensuring consistent service quality, professionalism, and compliance with hospitality standards.
  • Train, mentor, and support bar team members on beverage preparation, cocktail mixing, upselling techniques, and guest service excellence.
  • Develop and maintain beverage menus, signature cocktails, and innovative drink offerings that enhance guest satisfaction and revenue generation.
  • Monitor beverage quality, presentation standards, and consistency in all drinks served to guests.
  • Ensure proper stock control, inventory management, stock rotation, and beverage cost monitoring to minimize wastage and maximize profitability.
  • Coordinate beverage ordering requirements and maintain adequate stock levels to support operational needs.
  • Handle guest feedback, special requests, and service recovery situations professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensure all bar areas are properly set up, clean, organized, and fully prepared before service periods.
  • Monitor cash handling procedures, POS transactions, billing accuracy, and bar revenue controls.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health, safety, and hotel operational policies at all times.
  • Work closely with Food & Beverage management to support promotions, events, banquets, and special hospitality functions.
  • Analyze beverage sales trends and recommend strategies to improve guest experiences and increase revenue performance.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and guest-focused atmosphere within all bar operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Operations, Hotel Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in bar operations within hotels, resorts, restaurants, or luxury hospitality environments.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a bar environment is required.
  • Experience in luxury hotel operations is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mixology, cocktails, wines, spirits, and beverage service standards.
  • Experience with inventory management, stock control, and beverage cost management.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and hospitality operational procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Excellent guest service, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure hospitality environment.
  • Professional appearance, attention to detail, and commitment to service excellence.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Candidates from NCT and other hospitality institutes are encouraged to apply.
