We’re looking for a dynamic person, passionate about customer engagement and providing a world class experience to join our growing team in Mwanza Tanzania as Tax & Payroll Accountant. The person will process Taxes and periodic Payroll runs, including supports to other finance & accounting areas with focus on improving our customer services.

The role will report to the Finance Manager and will be based in Mwanza, Tanzania.

Purpose of the role:
Responsible for administration of Tax and Payroll activities resulting from financial and operational perspective, identifying arears of improvement and implementing appropriate action plans which align with business objectives. Perform tasks to ensure continuous improvements and compliance to Payroll and Tax laws.

The job responsibilities:
• Preparation of the monthly VAT reconciliation and returns
• Filing of the VAT return before the due date stipulated by the TRA
• Follow up on the reconciling items on monthly basis and report any anomaly immediately.
• Prepare comprehensive annual VAT reconciliations (reconciling annual financial statements, VAT returns, TANSAD and Electronic Fiscal Device data)
• Preparation and filing Monthly returns of Payroll Taxes before the due date for filling and payment as stipulated by the TRA
• Preparation of monthly withholding taxes, filing return, and make payments to TRA before the due date for filling and payment as stipulated by the TRA.
• Quarterly Calculation of Service levy and payment to District council timely.
• Preparation of the quarterly tax payments report covering all taxes, duties, levies, contributions paid by the Company.
• Preparation and filling of quarterly estimated income tax return and payment thereof
• Preparation and reporting of quarterly income tax (current and deferred tax) in line with the IFRSs and Sandvik Financial Policies and Procedures.
• Preparation of the annual income tax computation (in line with the requirements of the Income Tax Act and other tax laws, guidelines and regulations) and liaise with the Company’s tax consultants in review and finalization of the tax return within timelines stipulated by TRA
• Review income tax return to ensure maximum accuracy in compliance with the tax laws and regulations.
• Follow up on withholding tax certificates from the customers and ensure that they are timely filed with TRA
• Preparation of payroll and make sure Salaries are paid to employees timely.
• Handling Tax Audit and engage in different Tax meeting with TRA, Tax consultancy and other Tax stakeholders.
• Assist Financial Accountant on monthly financial reporting.
• Internal control lead

Qualifications & Experience Requirements
• Degree in Accountancy or related qualifications from recognized institution.
• Holder of CPA (a must) with 3 Years experience in finance or accounting practices.
• Previous experience and exposure in mining industry and related industries in a finance & accounting role (added advantage).

Other Requirements & Competencies
• Good command of the English Language.
• Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Familiarity with Tanzania Tax Laws & at least two (2) Payroll Integrated Accounting Systems.
• Attention to detail and conscientious.
• Advanced communication skills.
• Must be flexible and self-reliant, self-starter.
