JOB DETAILS:
An international conservation organization is looking for a grant and M&E officer to fill a role in current project implementation and in the development of projects to fulfil our five-year strategy in the Serengeti Ecosystem. The role would suit a recent Tanzanian Masters graduate or someone with equivalent experience who is looking to develop their experience in this field.

1. Position Overview
FZS is looking for a Tanzanian national to support the SECP in coordinating and ensuring quality in project level reporting, planning, monitoring and evaluation of donor funded projects, liaising with donors and in developing future projects.

1. Name of Position:
SECP Grants and M&E Officer

1. Position in the organization
The SECP Grant and M&E Officer is a full-time position reporting to the SECP Grant Manager and Impact Advisor (GMIA) but will liaise closely with the SECP senior staff and operations managers.
• Location: Serengeti National Park with occasional travel across this large ecosystem and to the FZS Tanzania Country Office in Arusha. Travel to other areas in Tanzania may also be required.

1. Key Responsibilities:
6.1 Donor Project Grant Management:
• Maintain a project donor reporting tracking schedule and communicate the reporting deadlines to Operations Managers so that project reports are drafted in time for review by the GMIA and Programme Manager (PM).
• Support Operations Managers and project leaders in drafting their project plans, performance indicators, and reports to the quality and specification expected by FZS, its donors, and partners.
• Support Operations Managers to ensure that donor requirements are adhered to during grant implementation
• Work with SECP finance officers and TCO head of finance to ensure accurate financial statements are produced in time for donor reporting.
• Work with the SECP finance officers to ensure Operations Managers receive monthly statements of expenditure as a basis for their monthly planning.

6.2 Grant development:
• Liaise with other grant officers in Tanzania and FZS HQ to scan for funding opportunities that can support the delivery of the SECP five-year strategy and highlight funding opportunities to the GMIA and PM
• Work with the GMIA to develop project proposals in response to relevant funding opportunities

6.2 Partner & donor relations:
• Support SECP senior staff in maintaining relationships with partners and donors, on all project management issues including contracts, in order to support efficient project implementation and management.
• Work with the FZS communication staff to disseminate project learning to key decision makers, communities and donors (e.g. briefing notes, policy briefs, newsletters, project fact-files etc.).

6.4 Organisational responsibilities and cross cutting issues:
• Work with the TCO Social Safeguards Expert to help operations managers integrate social safeguard policies into project planning and implementation.
• Work with PM, GMIA and Operations Managers to develop annual reports, and workplans.
• Provide monthly reports to the line manager (GMIA)

1. Required Qualifications:
Essential:
• Recent Masters degree in natural resource management or project management or related subjects or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years’ experience working for a conservation or rural development NGO implementing donor funded projects
• Good project report writing skills, including an ability to support monitoring and evaluation outcomes to assess project impact and in synthesising learning for dissemination to key stakeholders.
• Experience in donor funded project planning and design for fundraising proposals to private, NGO and bilateral donors an advantage
• Good MS Office (Word/Excel/Powerpoint) skills with experience in use of excel project tracker spreadsheet.
• Willingness to live in remote places and to travel within the Serengeti Ecosystem and occasionally more widely.
• Fluency in KiSwahili and English, both written and oral.
• A passion for wildlife conservation
• A valid current driving licence

Desirable
• Evidence of fundraising success
• Experience driving 4×4 vehicles
