Songwe Regional Referral Hospital is seeking to fill 4 vacant posts for Medical Officer Grade II.

Responsibilities or duties

  • To perform all medical duties in the hospital related to various diseases, including paediatric diseases, maternal diseases, and routine and emergency surgery.
  • To provide and supervise health education as well as improve community health in the District and Region or assigned working area.
  • To investigate, monitor and control disease outbreaks.
  • To maintain statistics and use them as directed in accordance with MTUHA principles.
  • To plan and assess health services in the assigned working area.
  • To teach students and staff in the working area.
  • To supervise and provide guidance to employees under his/her supervision.
  • To teach students in health colleges located in the assigned working area.
  • To design and conduct research and disseminate the results.
  • To design and prepare strategies for improving the quality of services in his/her professional field.
  • To prepare plans and budget estimates for health services.
  • To participate in reviewing and improving health services through medical audit and quality improvement.
  • To provide outreach services in his/her District/Region.
  • To perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications or requirements 

  • Applicants must have completed Form Four (IV) or Form Six (VI) and hold a Degree in Medicine from a University/College recognized by the Government.
  • Must have completed Internship and obtained registration from the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
  • Must be Tanzanian citizens aged not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years.
  • Must attach a Curriculum Vitae with a correct address, correct telephone numbers, as well as the names of two referees who are Government employees and their reachable telephone numbers.
  • Letters from two referees with their correct addresses and telephone numbers.
  • Must have relevant academic certificates. Testimonials, provisional results, statements of results and Form Four result slips are NOT ACCEPTED.
  • Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure that their certificates have been verified and approved by TCU or NACTE.
  • Must attach certified copies of the following certificates, certified by a Lawyer: Birth Certificate, Certificate of completion of Form Four education, Certificate of completion of Form Six education for those who completed Form Six, Professional Certificate, One Passport-size Photograph, Licence from the relevant professional councils.
  • Must attach a copy of a NIDA identity card or NIDA number.

Experience needed
