Accountant job at Nkinga Institute of Health Sciences
Position Description To maintain financial operations, ensuring revenues and expenses are within budget limit and overall policies/practices/regulations, maintaining accurate account balances, evaluating feasibility of services within budget parameters, ensuring efficient use of financial resources and providing financial guidance and recommendation to management of NIHS. The accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure proper accounting control and procedures. Other duties of an appropriate level and nature may also be required, as may be directed by the Principal.
Main Duties and Deliverables
Includes: • Monitor Institute accounts for accuracy and variances. Resolve any accounting discrepancies and irregularities
• Maintain record of all financial transactions in compliance with accepted policies and procedures (account payables, account receivables, payrolls, imprest etc)
• In consultation with the Line Manager and the Principal prepare the annual budget
• Monitor income and expenditure in relation to the budget
• Produce accurate and timely quarterly, half annual and annual financial reports and submit to the Principal in accordance with the agreed Report Format and FPCT financial regulations
• Assist in the process and preparation for the annual audit, liaising with all parties involved.
• Maintain and oversee all bank accounts, undertake monthly reconciliations and report banking errors to the Principal.
• Be responsible for all elements of cash handling including collections and disbursements, banking and security
• Prepare and submit statutory deductions to relevant government agencies/authorities and continuously ensure that provided deadlines are met
• Analyze and advice on business operations including revenues and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues
• Analyze financial information to recommend and develop efficient use of resources and procedures and provide strategic recommendations.
• Provide financial health status in scheduled plan meetings that are chaired by the Principal
• Demonstrating flexibility on working hours to ensure continuity of service
• Provide advice to the Board and its committees on financial matters as required
Desired Qualification and Experience • An Advanced Diploma/Bachelor degree in Accountancy or a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with major in accountancy from a recognised University/Training Institution
• Knowledge of Accounting Software such as MOYB, QuickBooks
• At least two years of professional experience in a reputable organisation
Other Skills and Competencies • Excellent communication skills: fluent in spoken and written English a must,
• Fluent in spoken and written Kiswahili is desirable
• Good computer skills including Excel, Word, PPT and other software
• Familiarity of training institutions’ work is an added advantage but not a must
Remuneration and other Benefits Remuneration will be offered to successful candidates based on Government Salary Circular and other FPCT policies
Position Description Teaching of all subjects in collaboration with other members of thestaff, Provide guidance to students in methods of study and use of books and library and Conductperiodical and terminal tests and home works to students
Key Responsibilities/Deliverables
Includes:
• Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions
• Prepare course materials such as homework assignments and handouts
• Prepare and deliver lectures to students
• Supervise students in clinical work
• Evaluate and grade students’ class work, clinical work, assignments and papers
• Collaborate with tutors to address teaching and research issues
• Set examinations and submit to the Academic Officer for moderation
• Compile, administer and grade examinations
• Submit all assignments and examination results to the Academic Officer timely
• Maintain student attendance records and other required records
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advice and assist students
• Conduct research in particular field of knowledge
• Serve on academic or administrative committee and departmental meetings that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, academic issues and student matters
• Supervise students in field/research work and take part to enhance students’ training programs
• Demonstrating flexibility to working hours to ensure continuity of service
Desired Qualification and Experience • A bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MD), from a recognised University
• A valid professional license

• Good computer skills including Excel, Word, PPT and other software is desirable
