Job purpose

The Internship Programme offers recent graduates and final-year students practical, hands-on exposure to economic research, data analysis, policy work, and PPP and investment advisory within a professional consultancy environment.

Interns will support TICGL and TERI research and advisory teams on live client and government assignments under close supervision. The programme is designed to provide direct experience in producing institutional-grade research, analysis, and documentation.

Key duties and responsibilities

The intern will be responsible for the following:

  • Support economists, data analysts, and policy analysts in gathering, organising, and cleaning data for ongoing research and advisory assignments.
  • Assist in drafting sections of reports, proposals, policy briefs, and presentations under the guidance of a supervisor.
  • Conduct literature reviews and background research on macroeconomic, sector-specific, and PPP-related topics.
  • Support the preparation of data collection tools and, where required, assist with field data collection activities.
  • Help maintain accurate records, filing systems, and documentation for project files.
  • Support logistical and administrative tasks for meetings, public lectures, and stakeholder events.
  • Assist with fact-checking and quality-checking data and figures used in TICGL deliverables, ensuring strict fidelity to source documents.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks assigned by the supervisor to support the intern’s learning and the team’s deliverables.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Be a recent graduate who completed their studies within the last one to two years, or a final-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Economics
    • Statistics
    • Finance
    • Public Policy
    • Development Studies
    • A related field
  • Have a strong academic record and a demonstrated interest in economic research, data analysis, or public policy.
  • Possess basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Familiarity with statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, or R will be an added advantage.
  • No prior professional work experience is required.
  • Relevant coursework, research projects, or volunteer experience will be considered an advantage.
