Job Description
The key purpose of this role is to drive and lead the Corporate Affairs & Legal and agenda: government and stakeholder relations, regulatory affairs including protecting license to trade, corporate reputation and communications, media relations, communities support projects, legal projects, and compliance and governance priorities. Manage and lead Tanzania Legal and Corporate Affairs team.
Responsibilities
• Managing and leading the Tanzania three key function Corporate affairs functions (sustainability, regulatory affairs and communications) and Legal Function
• Lead and manage key strategic projects and transactions in key functions
• Drive the agenda in protecting the business’ interest at a local level and ascertain adherence to business ethics as well as to existing policies
• Function supports in follow up of regional directorial level support on commercial operational support and develop initiatives/events for multi stakeholder forums
• Strong focus on data acquisition for key projects around value chains and economic impact
• Co-ordinate governance across the trust ensuring best practice
• Track and maintain a detailed awareness of the key regulatory issues facing the business and develop strategic responses as required
• Strategy for Government and stakeholder relations, corporate reputation management and corporate brand communications
• Optimizing relationships and communications with a wide variety of stakeholders
• Engage stakeholders and act as the contact point for company regulatory affairs by developing mutually beneficial relationships with the relevant key stakeholders
• Working together with the Legal Manager, coordinate any material court proceedings and litigation issues
Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
1. Master’s in International Relations/Economics/ Public Administration or Finance or Strategy/ School of Law LLB
2. Ability to interact with and influence senior stakeholders
3. Ideally International understanding/experience, given the nature of the global business
4. Highly-developed all round business and commercial sense
5. Strong personality with strong communication and negotiating skills in a multi-cultural environment
6. Ability to work autonomously, in a result-orientated and effective problem-solving way
7. Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
8. Board experience (Desirable)
9. Strong academic background and experience
10. FMCG experience (Desirable)
11. Leading and Managing people experience
