Position

English Teacher Primary School

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons for Grades 1–6.
  • Teach reading, phonics, grammar, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching aids.
  • Use learner-centred and competency-based teaching methods.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Prepare and administer tests, quizzes, and assignments.
  • Assess pupils’ reading, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Provide constructive feedback and maintain academic records.
  • Track learner progress and implement remedial support where needed.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
  • Use effective classroom control strategies appropriate for young learners.
  • Promote participation, confidence, and language use in class.
  • Implement the national curriculum and school academic policies.
  • Participate in co-curricular English activities (reading clubs, spelling bees, debates).
  • Collaborate with other teachers and school leadership.
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional development trainings.
  • Support pupils in developing strong literacy and communication skills.
  • Encourage reading culture and creative writing.
  • Foster moral values, confidence, and critical thinking.

Minimum Academic Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Education (English, Primary Education, or related field)

Experience

  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in primary school (Grades 1–6 preferred)
