About Tanzania Institute of Education
The Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) is a government institute under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology established under Act No.13 of 1975 (CAP 142 RE 2002). Its basic mandate is to interpret Government policies on education into befitting curricula, curricula support materials and programmes aiming at facilitating provision of quality education at pre¬primary, primary, secondary and teacher education levels. Specific functions of TIE are to:
• Design, develop and review curricula for Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary, and Teacher Education levels;
• Prepare curricular support materials including textbooks, syllabi and teachers guides;
• Provide in-service teachers training so as to enable teachers implement the curriculum effectively and efficiently; and
• Conduct research on various educational related matters including teaching and learning processes and the general quality of education.
Office Management Secretary II: (2 posts)
Qualification and experience
Holder of certificate of secondary school education with diploma in secretarial service from Public Service College or any other recognized college/institution who has passed both shorthand (English) and Kiswahili (Hatimkato) at a speed of 120 words per minute with knowledge in computer programs e.g. windows, Microsoft office internet, email and publisher with working experience of at least ten (10) years in related field. Must have sat for and passed Management Development Examination for Executive Assistants Stage II (MDEAII).
Duties and responsibilities
• To type letters, reports and documents;
• To receive visitors, screen and direct them to relevant officers;
• To arrange meetings and ensure all documents have been well prepared and circulated to respective members and invitees;
• To keep records and remind the respective officer of appointment, events and other important information;
• To keep register of incoming and outgoing files and documents;
• To arrange and distribute papers for the management committee;
• To file all copies of letters originating in respective division/unit in flimsy file for respective division/unit;
• To type minutes of meeting organized by respective officers;
• To respond to general correspondences;
• To photocopy required documents;
• To attend to telephone calls; and
• To perform any other related official duty as may be assigned by higher authorities.
Remuneration
Attractive remuneration package in accordance to TIE Scheme of Service (PGSS4.1)

• Masters/Postgraduate/Bachelor/Advanced Diploma/ Form IV and Form VI National Examination Certificates;

• Letter of current designation;
• An applicant must attach recent Passport Size Photo (coloured);
• An applicant must have at least three years working experience in the field;
• An applicant employed in the Public Service should route his/her application letter through his/her respective employer;
• An applicant should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts;
• Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
• Professional certificates from foreign universities and other training institutions should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) respectively;
