WWF International expanded its global Youth Engagement Programme for 18–30- year-olds in 2024. The Programme, which provides volunteering, internships, grassroots leadership training and virtual mentorship opportunities, aims to inspire a new generation of environmental advocates and leaders, especially young women, in their countries and communities to actively contribute to youth and community-led conservation and help drive positive change.

1. 1. MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
WWF recently commenced implementation of a three-year project focused on Accelerating the Implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) through Community-Led Conservation. The project aims to put Community-Led Conservation at the heart of GBF Implementation in five countries by ensuring full and effective participation of Indigenous people and local communicates (IP&LCs) and Youthin the development/revision of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and the implementation and monitoring of conservation activities at site and landscape level. The project will also advocate for new and additional funding for biodiversity through National Biodiversity Finance Plans (NBFPs) that facilitate greater access to finance for IP&LCs. Experiences and lessons learned in the five countries will be leveraged and amplified to galvanize action and advocacy for ambitious and inclusive NBSAPs and NBFPs in the wider sub-regions and globally working closely with WWF’s Regional and Global Policy and Advocacy Teams and the Public Sector Partnerships teams.
The main purpose of this internship is to assist the Senior Manager of GBF-CLC to coordinate the development and implementation of a global Youth action plan of GBF- CLC and specifically to be the link with strategic youth networks such as the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) which provide WWF the vehicle to deliver youth centered GBF-CLC project results.

It is expected that the Internship will be one year and located in the WWF Tanzania Country Office (one of the implementing countries) of the project.

2. 2. MAJOR FUNCTIONS
1.Technical advice on Youth engagement on GBF-CLC
• Assist in preparing project ideas, concept, guidance, position papers, action plans and lessons for WWF youth engagement through the GBF-CLC project at country, regional and global level.
2. 2. Assisting in coordinating the co-development and implementation of the
Global Youth strategy of the GBF-CLC project
• Assist in identifying, coordinating the negotiation, signing and implementation of an agreement between GBF-CLC and youth networks starting with GYBN.
• Support the co-development of quarterly and monthly action plans and reports of the partnerships between WWF and selected Youth networks on the GBF-CLC project.
• Support convening physical or online coordination meetings with the youth networks connecting through the GBF-CLC project.
• Support the knowledge management and communications about the WWF-Youth partnership on the GBF-CLC project.
• Assist overall project administration of the GBF-CLC
• Assist in planning, convening and documenting global GBF-CLC internal and external meetings and events.
• Assist in coordinating team logistics.

3. 3. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Be the focal person on global Youth coordination for the project
• Keep updated knowledge systems for the project
• Be the focal person for coordinating administration of the project at global level
4. 4. PROFILE Required Qualifications
• A graduate with at least a Degree in Wildlife, Forestry, Environment, Climate or Social Studies
• At least 1 year experience in engaging with youth initiatives and networks
• At Least 1 year experience engaging in project management and coordination
• Familiar with the Global Biodiversity Framework
